    Angus University

The fifth annual Angus University, sponsored by Merck Animal Health, takes place Sunday, Nov. 4. This year’s symposium ranks as our most exciting yet, featuring Green Beret commander, Mark Nutsch, and Cameron Bruett, Corporate Affairs and Sustainability lead for JBS® USA and current president of the Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef. Meanwhile, the afternoon breakout sessions will cover a wide-variety of subjects featuring a slate of top-flight speakers.

Mark Nutsch, portrayed by actor Chris Hemsworth in the major motion picture, “12 Strong,” Mark Nutsch (aka Mitch Nelson in the film) shares lessons learned in the now-declassified saga of a U.S. Special Forces team that overcame seemingly insurmountable odds to help achieve a historic military victory. Mark Nutsch shares the true-life story of helping lead what is considered the most successful unconventional warfare campaign in modern history, a victory that changed the course of our country and the world.

Cameron Bruett, Cameron Bruett has led corporate communications, industry affairs and sustainability at JBS® USA since 2012. He started his career at JBS in 2008, managing government relations in Washington D.C. Prior to JBS, Cameron served on the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry and held positions with ConAgra Foods, the EOP Group and USDA. He is the current President of the Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef, Board Member of the Farmer Support Programme in the Netherlands and a graduate of Tuskegee University. Cameron is a dynamic speaker and proven leader in the beef cattle industry. Convention attendees won’t want to miss his presentation!

    Association Business

Of course, no Angus Convention is complete without the American Angus Association® annual business meeting. Delegates from across the U.S. will assemble to represent nearly 25,000 Association members during the Annual Convention of Delegates on Monday, Nov. 5.

The Candidate Forum will be held Saturday, Nov. 3 at 4:30 p.m. This Forum is the prime time for delegates and Association members to listen to candidates vying for the Association’s Board of Directors. Each candidate will present for 10 minutes, followed by a Q&A session.
